In 2016, the first recordings by CLEOPATRAS were released on an LP by Hueso Records, with technical supervision by musician and producer Uwe Schmidt, a.k.a. Atom™. These tracks, captured live or as demos between 1987 and 1991, including the 1988 demo "Corazones rojos"—featuring vocals by Jorge González, Tahlia Gómez, and Cecilia Aguayo—a precursor to the later version popularized by Los Prisioneros.
With only 250 vinyl pressings, this new edition incorporates these original tracks and adds CLEOPATRA's foundational song "Peonía roja" for the first time, recorded with Chilean electronic artist Entrópica.
With album artwork by artist Liliana Porter, this limited edition release provides a rare glimpse into the band's influence on the Chilean underground scene.
This release is the first in a collaborative series between Hueso Records and the Institute for Studies on Latin American Art (ISLAA). The series highlights music as a form of resistance against South American military dictatorships during the 1970s and 1980s, showcasing the inventiveness, talent, and resilience of musicians who, with minimal resources, protested against repression and censorship through their music. For each album, a Latin American visual artist creates cover art that conveys the tension between sight and sound while evoking the music's regional history.
