INFO

Published on the occasion of ISLAA's 2024 exhibition Dueñas de la Noche: Trans Lives and Dreams in 1980s Caracas, this illustrated booklet includes an essay by Marcia Ochoa and an interview with filmmaker Manuel Herreros de Lemos in conversation with curators Omar Farah, Mariano López Seoane, Lucas Ondak, Clara Prat-Gay, and Micaela Vindman. Together, they provide additional context and backstory for the 1982 documentary Trans, showcasing how Venezuela's marginalized transformistas forged community, navigated sex work, and sought out pleasure amid the monumental mid-century architecture that characterized 1980s Caracas.
